NDE sensor system for detecting production-related grinding burn

The aim of the project is to develop innovative solutions for the system integration of NDE sensor and data systems that make a significant contribution to optimizing production processes and value chains in terms of quality, costs and sustainability. The results should help companies to strengthen their competitiveness and meet the challenges of a changing global industrial landscape. However, this requires careful preparation and planning, including the development of a process understanding and a detailed inventory of the requirements and boundary conditions of the production environment.

The aim of the proposed project is therefore to build up and expand the necessary expertise at Fraunhofer IZFP. To this end, the following research questions are to be answered in the project:

  1. Which production and value chains are particularly suitable for the integration of NDE sensor and data systems to optimize quality, costs and sustainability?
  2. Where is there a particularly great need for action to integrate NDE sensor and data systems?
  3. What contributions can the integration of NDE sensor and data systems make to optimizing quality, costs and sustainability?
  4. What are the fundamental challenges in the integration of NDE sensor and data systems?

The desired expansion of expertise is to be achieved through a combination of extensive research, theoretical case studies and the implementation of initial experimental feasibility studies. These results will then also be used to prepare applications for further research projects within the framework of public research funding.
