The trend towards reducing the number of individual components in modern car bodies has led to the production of larger and more complex components. Manufacturers are continuously developing existing technologies and introducing new ones, often accompanied using new alloys and materials for car body design. The production of automotive structural components has seen the establishment of temperature-supported forming technologies for sheet metals, in addition to casting technologies for large structural components and the classic cold forming of car body parts. Tailor Welded (TWB) and Tailor Rolled Blanks (TRB) are widely used, and graded properties within a component are increasingly created using patches and locally adapted heat treatment. At the 3 days “4th Executive Summit – Efficient car body parts production from high-performance materials” on October 2nd – 4th, 2024, we will be discussing the new trends with speakers and participants from all over the spectrum. Our speakers range from raw materials suppliers to the OEM’s and any link of the supply chain. As automotive world and supply chain is changing at a very high pace, it is essential to keep up with both the technological and business aspects.

Materials for future applications At the core of the MPA seminar’s attention lies the pivotal role of materials, where they confront a host of complex challenges. While steel in various forms as austenitic or martensitic continues to play a crucial role, evolving applications necessitate the use of other materials like nickel-based alloys, titanium and high-strength aluminum. Moreover, the introduction of innovative manufacturing processes enables the design and manufacturing of more complex structures and components and the utilization of a broader spectrum of materials. Nevertheless, the surging costs associated with increasingly precious alloying elements present formidable obstacles. Further challenges include but are not limited to highly flexible load cycles, material behaviour under harsh environments like extremely high and low temperatures as the bevhavior under the influence of media, especially biogas and hydrogen. The performance of materials dominates the performance of the end product, emphasizing the need for efficient resource utilization in their application.

Predictive Maintenance – Vorausschauende Instandhaltung – geht einher mit dem Fortschreiten der Digitalisierung in allen Industriebereichen und steht für den fortschreitenden Wandel bei Ansätzen für die Instandhaltung. Auf Basis der Analyse von Daten sollen Aussagen getroffen werden, in welchem Zustand sich Anlagen und deren Komponenten befinden und welche Wartungsnotwendigkeit daraus entsteht. Dies kann durch die Anwendung künstlicher Intelligenz unterstützt werden. Wenn die Instandhaltung zustandsorientiert und nicht in starren Intervallen stattfindet, können die Lebenszeit von Bauteilen verlängert und Instandhaltungskosten gespart werden. TÜV SÜD stellt mit der Tagung Predictive Maintenance ein Forum zur Verfügung, um sich über den neuesten Stand der Technik zu informieren und den Austausch zwischen Experten aus der Chemie- und Prozessindustrie sowie der Energiebranche zu ermöglichen. Dabei knüpft die Tagung an die vorhergehende Fachtagung »Predictive Maintenance in der Energie und Anlagentechnik« in 2019 an. Schwerpunkt soll die Vermittlung von Praxiserfahrungen sein – welche Predictive-Maintenance-Ansätze und -Methodiken wurden angewendet, welche modernen Monitoring-, Diagnose- und Prüfmethoden wurden eingesetzt und wie können diese weiter verbessert werden (lessons learned). Was ist sinnvoll und wirtschaftlich (Kosten-Nutzen-Rechnung)? Wo sind die neuen Ansätze den praktizierten Instandhaltungsstrategien überlegen?

CO2-negative Verfahren und Baustoffe einer Carbon Capture Usability-Strategie sowie energiepositive Gebäude, Quartiere und Städte stehen im Zentrum der präsentierten Exponate zur Nachhaltigkeit. Sicherheit interpretieren wir bezogen auf die Resilienz gegen den Klimawandel mit Antworten auf die Frage, wie wir unsere Gebäude gegen Hochwasser, Hitze und Extremwetter schützen können und gleichzeitig die Wirtschaft durch neuartige Verfahren und Produktdesigns zur Kreislaufwirtschaft transformieren.

Alle zwei Jahre trifft sich die Gussbranche zum übergreifenden Erfahrungs- und Wissensaustausch aller Disziplinen, die am Produktentwicklungsprozess und am Produktlebenszyklus von Gussbauteilen beteiligt sind, beginnend mit der Konstruktion und endend mit der Wahl einer geeigneten R-Strategie.
